Subhra likes to visualize emotion in his work, and weave a story with shapes, lines, and colors. He looks for the unexpected in the mundane, the interplay of light and shadow in form. Capturing the emotive moment inspires him.
He grew up in Kolkata, India, among a myriad of colors, rhythms and verses and was deeply influenced by both eastern as well as western art and literature in his formative years. He pursued engineering in his undergrad and majored in Aerospace Engineering at the Indian Institute of Technology in Kharagpur. After immigrating to the United States he completed his graduate studies in Computer Science and Mathematics in the Stevens Institute of technology in New Jersey. Later, he pursued further studies in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

He also loves to write and have workshopped with local writing groups. Some of his short stories and poetry have been published.
He believes that the purpose of all visual art is to evoke an emotional response from the viewer, and that creative portraiture is no exception. His art is intentional and attempts at portraying you, his subject, with unique moods. His training in the quantitative fields as well as his familiarity with the written word allows him to fuse multiple disciplines into his work to give rise to a unique perspective, to capture your image visually in a timeless way. With creative portraiture, he attempts to break through the traditional role of photography, which is to tell a story of a place and a time, and to create suggestive and timeless feelings in my images of you which you will be proud to hang on your wall or flip through in your luxury album.
He has been published multiple times in the USA and abroad. You can see some of the magazine covers with his work here. He have also been interviewed and featured by prestigious publications. You can read these here.
